Fullmetal Alchemist Music Video – Skillet: Hero

This is an Anime music video that I created with content from the anime series “Fullmetal Alchemist”, and with music from the song “Hero” by Skillet. My goal was to create a coherent video which displayed the emotion behind the characters of the series as well the song’s lyrics. I worked with the basics of story development concentrating on the plot, build and climax of the song with visual material that, I find, can powerfully be shown through the uses of song-to-story match-up in this video. —– Heads up!!! There are defiantly clips of spoilers in this video. So unless you have not seen the series and the Full Metal Alchemist movie, id recommend not to see it. But if you don’t care, id be more then happy for you to watch this video. —– The video contains clips from Episodes 21 through 51 plus the movie as well. ———————————————- Update: So it has come to my attention that i have misspelled the word Glad into Glade. lol So i just wanted to say i meant Glad instead of this word Glade. ———————————————- www.animeshowcase.net http Music: Band: Skillet Song: Hero Album: Awake www.youtube.com Check out the shows website for more information about the show! www.fullmetalalchemist.com So i hope you all enjoy and leave some feedback and tell me what you think. Band Merchandise: Promote and Support your Music

The rewards of creating music range from the deep satisfaction of writing a new song to the glowing pride of a successful performance. While these feelings bolster our confidence, they do little to compensate for the financial investment often tied to making music. While selling your music via CDs and downloads is a good start, you should also consider investing in band merchandise to promote your band and cover the cost of instruments, rehearsal spaces, recording equipment and more.

In a Rolling Stone article (7/04), Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba spoke about the importance of merchandise: “Merch sales are what kept us going. Even now, we’re still not making our living from playing the shows. Merch is where we make our profit.” In that same story, John Mayer commented on merchandise sales and the current state of the recording industry: “You’re not making that much money off records anymore, so until people can figure out how to make a re-writable Hanes Beefy-T, merch is one of the last bastions of individuality, commerce and style that an artist has left.”

Echoing those sentiments, Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls told NPR (1/17/07): “We make almost no money off our recordings themselves.” To earn a steady income, NPR interviewer Chris Arnold noted that “The Dresden Dolls can take in more than $1,000 a night selling merchandise, which makes the ‘merch table’ a major source of income why they’re on the road.”

While generating money is the most obvious benefit of band merchandise, the valuable impressions made from exposure to potential fans is just as important. Arming your current fan base with a fashionable marketing tool will only help to promote your band and raise your profile. To this end, musicians should take great care in creating logos and images that accurately reflects their sound and image while appealing to consumers. For inspiration, turn to Threadless.com for a wide range of arresting designs. If you don’t have the skills to create the design, try cutting costs by recruiting a graphic arts student to handle the project for you.

Once the perfect design is approved, identify the medium that will give you the greatest return. A quick Google search found a wealth of companies dedicated to meeting the merchandise needs of independent artists. Here are just a few of the deals out there:

100 printed t shirts: $405 at WeNeedMerch.com

500 1″ buttons: $100 at BusyBeaver.net

250 5.5″ x 1.42″ stickers: $25 at StickerGuy.com

100 posters: $175 at BandWear.com

Selling your band merchandise can be done at live shows or online via your web site. Create links at social music sites like Echoboost.com to draw more traffic and use secure payment services, such as PayPal, to handle the monetary transactions. Email fan club members when new products become available and try offering special packages, bundling your CDs or downloads with t shirts, buttons and/or stickers to drive sales and spread the word about your music.

You shouldn’t let expenses drain your passion for music. Put your music to work for you with your own merchandise and keep making the music you love.

Enjoy Big Band Jazz Music

Jazz enjoys a universal popularity. This form of music emerged in the beginning of the 20th century in the African- American community of the United States of America. The repetitive patterns of ‘call’ and ‘response’ define the jazz music. The various types of rhythm patterns that are prevalent in the jazz music are reggae, blues and the swing patterns.

A kind of musical assembly associated with the jazz music is known as the big band jazz music. This sort of ensemble can also be called as jazz band, jazz orchestra, jazz ensemble and dance band. However there is one primary difference between the big band jazz music and the other forms of jazz music. While the most of the jazz combos are highly improvised or and created spontaneously, the music that is played in the big bands jazz music is often arranged and prepared from before. In this form of music, the notations are notated on the sheet music in advance.

Started as an experimental form by the African slaves the jazz music attempted at combining the African folk culture with the American form of music. The most attractive fact about the jazz music that draws so many musicians to this form of music is its wide periphery that offers you to experiment with this musical pattern. How Bands and Artists Make Music

If you were to write down the names of all the bands and artists that exist or existed in America, you would probably take a lifetime and yet not be able to get them all. There are just so many! Being a member of a band or being an artist is something almost everyone has tried to be. The success of American Idol has already proved that this point is true.

Usually bands and artists are differentiated depending on the kind of music they make. So we have rock bands, pop bands, ‘boy’ bands, surf bands, punk band, and even the wedding bands are qualified as bands. Same when it comes to artists. It is interesting to note that when you think of bands, it’s not so much about the members that you think of but the music. The band or the artist is just a representation of the music that we enjoy. The music is always inside us. The bands and artists just sing it for us.

Different types of bands and artists not only make different kinds of music, but they also make music differently. Depending on how the members sing and what kind of instruments they play as well as what kind of music they like, the final product (song) that a band makes will be unique and one of its kind. The most interesting thing about bands is that although each member has a unique voice, this is very hard to identify in the song. A song by a band always seems to have just one voice, as if sung only by one person. The truth is that the song is sung by different voices, all at different pitches. But a good band has the ability to make different voices sound like one voice. This is when a band can harmonize.

This can at times also creatively inhibit a band, since the song must be liked by each member before it is made. This is difficult since everyone has varying preferences and when it comes to music, most people (singers included) cannot define why exactly they like a song. A band sometimes makes multiple songs, one after the other before they finally pick one song which they all will like. One might think of this as a compromise of an individual’s preference, but then that is in the nature of the band. A band is a whole and individual members are only parts. Thus the identity of the band is always stronger than that of its members.

Bands and artists have it differently when it comes to making music. Artists are free to experiment since they are independent of any other person’s preferences. Their likes and opinion are all that matter. This desire to be free and make exactly the kind of music that one wishes is what often drives band members to have solo careers or albums sooner or later. (As an artist it is very hard to keep your music inside you for very long). Yet many bands have lasted very long. This is because over a period of time members begin to make the ‘band’s music. They are able to relate better to their music as a band and also find a way to keep their individual tastes alive while blending them with the band’s music. Different voices, yet one sound. Tortured Soul at Java Jazz Festival 2006

Tortured Soul at Java Jazz Festival 2006

An Endless Playlist of New Music

We are currently living an era where all genres of music are welcomed around the Globe. Whether it’s online, on TV, on the radio, in magazines or snooping about record shops, new music can be found everywhere.

It is possible now for relatively unheard acts to push into the top 40 charts because of the times we live in. Different genres are more acceptable and in the last 10 years we’ve had heavy rock, ballads, electro and pop/dance sneak into the top 10 of the charts. This can be aided by the songs being heard in the sound tracks of films and adverts but, most commonly, the listeners drive to hear something new. Now they can go out and search for new music any way they could. When in years gone by, it would have been only what the radio played is what people listened to, despite their musical taste.

Assisted by the internet and an endless gigging schedule, groups are able to get their music out to the masses. There is no substitute for hard work in becoming popular but being heard is easier now than ever. An astonishing story regarding chart success is about a St Albans quartet called Enter Shikari. The band entered the album charts at number four before they had even been signed. It was their blend of trance and hard rock that grabbed the listeners’ attention and people were desperate to hear more.

There are festivals all over the world now catching on to the fact that the more diverse the line up, the people it will attract to the festival. Of course, there are still festivals loyal to a certain genre of music but they are bringing in lesser known acts and giving them a moment to shine and impress an ignorant audience. It is then up to the audience member to decide whether they want to stick around or not.

The internet is playing probably the biggest part in bringing new music to people. With new technology like MySpace, ITunes and Facebook, artists are now able to sell their music and let a potentially huge number of people hear their music. Not only does it give the artist the option of how many songs they would like to upload for the world to hear, it also lets the artist control the image they would like people to perceive them as. This is truly a great age for both the musician and their audience.
